Guadalupe G. Garcia, 85, of Sunnyside passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at Hillcrest Manor in Sunnyside.

He was born April 3, 1924 in Kennedy, Texas to Daniel and Romula (Garza) Garcia. He spent his early years in Texas.

On Oct. 1, 1949 he married Effie DeLaRosa in Tieton.

Guadalupe worked in agriculture and also as a foreman for Springcreek Orchards in Outlook, for many years.

He enjoyed hunting, gardening and raising animals. Guadalupe was a friend to many and enjoyed helping others.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside.

He is survived by his wife, Effie Garcia of Sunnyside; his children, Corina Garcia of Granger, Angie Lewis (Barry Small) of Selah, Rachel Socha (Steven) of Spokane, Ray Garcia (Debbie Rodriguez) of Mt. Vernon, Janie Garcia of Outlook, Gloria Brophy of Spokane, Rick Garcia of Yakima, Dalia Garcia of Spokane and Art Garcia of Mesa, Ariz.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hortence Summerville, Rita DeLaRosa and Nicki Cantu; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Johnny M. Garcia; a granddaughter, Tammy Lewis; and several brothers and sisters.

Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, from 8 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, with burial to be held at Calvary Cemetery in Yakima.
