Colder than usual April predicted for Sunnyside area

Below normal temperatures and near normal precipitation is predicted for Sunnyside during the month of April. That's according to the National Weather Service's latest forecast.

Normal highs for Sunnyside during April are 66.7 degrees and normal lows are 39.2 degrees. The 30-year normal precipitation is 0.53 inches.

According to preliminary data received by the National Weather Service, temperatures at Sunnyside averaged colder than normal during the month of March.

The average temperature was 43.6 degrees which was 2.6 degrees below normal. High temperatures averaged 57.9 degrees, which was 0.6 degrees below normal.

The highest temperature was 68 degrees on March 17. Low temperatures averaged 29.3 degrees, which was 4.6 degrees below normal. The lowest temperature for the month was 19 degrees, on March 9.

There were 23 days in March with the low temperature below 32 degrees.

Precipitation totaled 0.04 inches during March, which was 0.59 inches below normal.

Measurable precipitation -at least .01 inch - was received on two days with the heaviest, 0.03 inches reported on March 29.
