Lester Krack, 91, a longtime Grandview resident, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010 peacefully at home in Olympia after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

He was born Jan. 3, 1920 in Gackle, N.D., as a child of the great depression. After graduating from high school, Lester taught school for two years before moving to Grandview in 1940, where his brother John resided.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II as a medic.

Lester worked as an electrician at Libby's processing plant in Grandview until his retirement.

Lester is survived by his wife Patricia, of Olympia; a son, Alan, of Olympia; and a daughter, Mary of Spartanburg, S.C.; four grandchildren, Christine of Tucson, Ariz., Angela of Kings Mountain, N.C., David of Fairbanks, Alaska and Travis of Olympia; and one great-granddaughter, Brianna of Kings Mountain; a brother, Robert of Olympia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four brothers; one sister; and a son, Bruce.

Graveside services in honor of Lester were held Monday, April 12, 2010, at Grandview Cemetery, followed by a reception in Lester's honor.
