Bickleton tracksters record 17 personal bests

EAST WENATCHEE - The Bickleton Pirates competed at the Eastmont JV Invite this past Friday and saw 17 personal bests recorded.

"This really is not a big surprise since we do have a lot of freshmen and other newcomers," Bickleton Coach Darrell Lang said.

Leading the girls for the Pirates was Holly Goodnight in the discus. She won the event with a distance of 85-1. Teammate Haley Goodnight was fifth with a throw of 77-9 and Amanda McBride placed 12th for Bickleton with her heave of 67-2.

Haley Goodnight got third place in the shot put with a distance of 27-8. The event was won by Eisenhower's JV trackster, Claire Goins. Holly Goodnight was fifth in the event with a distance of 26-11.5 and McBride was 18th with a distance of 21-9.

Christina Wilson gave the Pirates a fifth place finish in the 3200m event with a time of 14:10.87. The event was won by Wenatchee's JV trackster, Maggie Chvilicek.

Wilson also finished ninth in the 1600m event with a time of 6:23.80.

Bickleton's Jenna Mount placed sixth in the 100m event with a time of 14.33. The event was won by Wenatchee's Ashley Sharp with a time of 13.24. Bickleton's Yan Dong was 25th in the event with a time of 15.70.

Dong also finished 13th in the 400m event with a time of 1:19.18. Mount was 10th in the 800m with a time of 2:54.35.

In the javelin (600g) throw, Holly Goodnight was 14th with a distance of 70-1. McBride was 26th in the event with a distance of 40-11. The event was won by Kim Nguyen of the Wenatchee JV team.

In the triple jump, Bickleton's Johanna Jensen was ninth with a distance of 26-5.75. She also placed 12th in the long jump with a distance of 12-10.5.

Mount, Haley Goodnight, Dong and Jensen teamed up to finished third in the 4x400 relay with a time of 5:11.57.

On the boys side, Junior Hernandez was second in the 3200m event with a time of 11:03.30. He was bested by Dennis Diaz of the Eisenhower JV team, who finished with a time of 11:03.30. Bickleton's Henrik Heldahl was eighth in the event and Joshua Cummings was 11th.

Hernandez also finished fifth in the 1600m event with a time of 5:01.06.

Bickleton's Edgar Molina won the shot put event with a throw of 45-2. Teammate Daniel Clingan came in 32nd with a distance of 26-8.

Molina also won the discus throw with a heave of 126 feet.

Nic Venema placed second in the pole vault for the Pirates. He cleared 10-6. The event was won by Eastmont's Joey Caron.

In the high jump event, Bickleton's Taylor Brown was seventh with a height of 5-2. That mark was matched by teammate Heldahl. Mitchell Powers gave Bickleton a 10th place finish in the event.

In the 800m event, Peter Clinton was 10th with a time of 2:18.10. The event was won by Wenatchee's Justin Valdez with a time of 2:03.59.

Taylor Brown, Molina, Clinton and Hernandez teamed up to place sixth in the 4x400 relay event with a time of 4:06.78.

Brown, Heldahl, Clinton and Venema teamed up to placed seventh in the 4x100 relay event with a time of 49.84.

"It's time to shift gears and start priming for big meets and big results as District qualifying and State qualifying are in the not too distant future, Lang said.

Bickleton will next compete at the Lions Invite in Goldendale on Friday, April 23.
