PASCO - Sunnyside's Black Rock Creek golfers have won the last three Columbia Basin Senior Golf Tour titles. Based on the 2010 opener staged at Pasco's Sun Willows Golf Course last week, the Lower Valley linksters are poised and ready to make it four in a row.
Getting a pair of 7-over-par 79's from Bob Barker and Gene McIntire, Black Rock Creek tallied a 722 at Sun Willows to post the low team score. The runner-up host Sun Willows squad was a distant second with an aggregate team score of 738.
Rounding out the third through fifth-place finishers at the 2010 season opener were the Pendleton Country Club (739), Apple Tree/Sun Tides (743) and Columbia Point (758).
In addition to the 79's posted by Barker and McIntire, Black Rock Creek's Don Cardenas carded an 85.
In the net scoring (actual score minus handicap), Norm Larson posted the low round for Black Rock Creek. He shot a handicap-aided 66. The other net leaders for the winning team included Perry Barnhill with a 67, and Mark Drollinger and Keith Ward with identical 68's.
Gross skin winners from the Sunnyside-area team were Cardenas and Don Patteson with birdies on the par-4 ninth and 17th holes, respectively. Ward also claimed a net skin with a birdie on the par-3, 13th hole.
