With the cancellation of the Miss Sunnyside Cinco de Mayo program, young ladies in the Lower Yakima Valley community are being invited to instead compete for the title of Miss Maquina, to be awarded during this year's Cinco de Mayo Festival in Sunnyside.
A meeting for all interested contestants, who must be between the ages of 16 and 26, will be held tonight (Wednesday) at the Ramos Gifts & Scrubs shop, located at 1015 E. Lincoln Ave., starting at 6 p.m.
The Miss Maquina contest is being sponsored by Maquina Musical 98.7, the radio station that is coordinating this year's entertainment for the April 30-May 2 Cinco de Mayo Festival in downtown Sunnyside.
The coronation of the first ever Miss Maquina is scheduled for the opening day of the 2010 festival in Sunnyside, on Friday, April 30, in the downtown Centennial Square plaza at about 6 p.m.
