Grandview boys win, Lady 'Hounds falter at Quincy

QUINCY - The Grandview tennis teams yesterday (Thursday) traveled to Quincy to make up a match that was earlier this season canceled due to weather restrictions.

The Greyhound boys pulled out their second win of the season, handing the Jackrabbits a 3-2 defeat.

The girls, on the other hand, fell 3-2 to the home team.

Both Grandview No. 1 boys singles player Ryan Rodriguez and No. 2 boys singles player Ezequiel Zamora earned victories over their opponents.

Rodriguez battled to come from behind 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 win over Garret VanDyke.

Zamora had it a little easier on the court, winning in straight sets 6-1 over Chris Flores.

Greyhound teammates Abel Reyes and Frankie Medina also secured a win, handing Quincy's Samuel Gregg and Jonathan Vasquez a loss in straight sets 6-4 in No. 3 boys doubles play.

For the girls, No. 1 singles player Gabby Sauve of Grandview earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Jackrabbit Ciara Rasmussen.

Lady 'Hounds No. 3 doubles teammates Victoria Chambers and Andrea Svobodova earned the other victory, scoring a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Patty Romero and Ayla Medina of Quincy.

The Grandview losses were suffered by No. 1 boys doubles teammates Angel Lopez and Marcus Morales, No. 2 boys doubles players Stevan Ramirez and Ivan Campuzano, girls No. 2 singles player Hannah Grow, Jessica hernandez and Megan Rodriguez (No. 1 doubles), and No. 2 girls doubles teammates Mayra Escareno and Casandra Hudon.

Grandview next takes to the net at Othello next Tuesday.
