Tomasa S. Palomarez, 78, of Mabton went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, surrounded by her loving family.
Tomasa was born March 7, 1932 in Taylor, Texas, the daughter of Antonio and Quirina (Medellin) Salazar.
On Aug. 14, 1947 she married Frank C. Palomarez in Toppenish.
Tomasa worked for Twin City Foods until she retired in 1994.
She enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and loved Tejano Music.
She was a great sports fan, watched baseball throughout the season and especially enjoyed watching the World Series and was a Mabton Viking basketball fan. Tomasa also enjoyed going to the casino.
She was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mabton.
She is survived by four daughters, Zenaida (Manuel) Calixto, Mary Torres, Virginia (Jose) Martinez and Natalie Palomarez, all of Mabton; two sons, Tom (Chris) Palomarez, of White Swan and Peter (Kathy) Palomaez, of Yakima; daughter-in-law, Linda Palomarez. of Mabton; sister-in-law, Rosa Zavala of Mabton; 22 grandchildren; 29 nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Victoria Lopez, of Del Rio, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews, including Daniel P. Zavala; and her very close friend, Anita Orosco, of Mabton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Quirina Salazar; husband, Frank C. Palomarez; one son, Frank Palomarez Jr.; three brothers; and four sisters.
Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview, with burial to follow at Mabton Cemetery.
