Grape stomp registrations being accepted

GRANDVIEW - The annual Great Grandview Grape Stomp is set for Saturday, Sept. 11.

Registrations are being accepted for the event, to be hosted by the Yakima Valley Community College Grandview campus.

The event is set to take place in conjunction with the 2010 Catch the Crush events throughout the Yakima Valley.

Contestants in the Great Grape Stomp hop into wooden barrels and stomp furiously, using their bare feet to turn 30 pounds of grapes into juice. The goal is to stomp out the most juice, based on the weight of the juice.

At the event will be food, activities for all ages and arts and crafts vendors.

The event is scheduled to begin Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. The top three teams will compete in a finals event at 4 p.m., with a prize for the top team.

To register your three-person team at the cost of $35, go online at under the events tab. The registration fee includes a grape stomp t-shirt for each team member. Registrations received after Friday, Sept. 3, will cost $45.
