Guadalupe Castaneda, 89, of Grandview passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, at Kadlec Medical Center. Guadalupe was born Nov. 5, 1920 in Zacatecas, Mexico, the son of Alvino and Maia de Jesus (Guzman) Castaneda. On Dec. 27, 1952 he married Elisa Guzman in Mexico. Following their marriage they made their home in Mexico until 1976, when they with their children came to the U. S. making their home in Grandview, where he worked as a farm laborer.

His wife Elisa died in 1982 and Guadalupe continued to make Grandview his home.

He is survived by two daughters, Leovijilda Cortes and Maria Mariscal, both of Grandview; four sons, Daniel, Abel, Adel and Angel Castaneda, all of Grandview; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six brothers; and one sister.

Viewing and visitation will be held today, Aug. 18, 2010, from 3 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Grandview. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview, with burial to follow at East Prosser Cemetery.
