KLICKITAT - The Bickleton girls basketball team traveled to the Klickitat Jamboree yesterday and faced the host Vandals to open the season.
The Lady Pirates suffered a tight 19-18 loss to the Vandals in the opener.
Senior Katelynn Clinton led her team with 12 points, and teammate Jamie Venema scored six points against Klickitat.
Clinton also led the Bickleton team with four steals and five rebounds. Amanda McBride had three boards in the losing cause.
The Vandals spread the shooting between Samantha Brewer (six points) and teammates Charice McConville and KeAndra Kessinger. Both McConville and Kessinger scored five points apiece.
The Lady Pirates in the shortened game against Goldendale suffered an 18-11 loss to the Timberwolves.
Bickleton's offense was spread, as four players scored against Goldendale. Leading the team was Venema with four points. Teammate Aymie Osborne scored three points, and Jenna Mount and Haley Goodnight scored two points each.
Clinton, again, led the team in steals and boards, snatching the ball from Goldendale three times and grabbing it from the glass five times. Osborne had three boards and Mount grabbed the ball from the Timberwolves twice.
Timberwolf Lexi Cameron was the top scorer in the nightcap with nine points. Teammate Crysta Counts scored three points and three other teammates, Taylor Bradley, Kylie Montgomery and Saide Shattuck, each had two points.
Bickleton will next travel to White Salmon Tuesday, Dec. 7. The Lady Pirates are set to square off with the Columbia High School JV squad.
