Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend Maria Del Consuelo Rodriguez Villa, went to be in the arms of her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010. Maria was born June 17, 1958 in Caldwell, Idaho, the daughter of Silvester and Consuelo (Villanueva) Rodriguez.

She worked many years as a migrant worker traveling around much of the U.S. with her family, until they settled in Sunnyside.

Maria received her education in Sunnyside. She earned an AA degree in education from YVCC and an Early Education Certificate. She was a pre-school teacher for many years at Epic Head Start.

Maria cherished time with family and friends, going to the casino, dancing, family gatherings and long walks with her husband.

She was a very giving, generous and thoughtful person.

Maria enjoyed talking on the phone with her best friend, Diana.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Maria was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Santiago A. Villa, of Sunnyside; three children, Joe Chavez, Gracie Chavez and Adolfo Chavez all of Sunnyside; four grandchildren, Jesus Flores, Aiden Chavez, Anthony Chavez and Daisy Vargas; blessed with eight sisters, Thelma (Raymond) Jue of Seattle, Gloria Tovar of Grandview, Janie (Clofin) Coronado of Yakima, Teresa Lopez of Sunnyside, Paula Hernandez of Oregon, Martina (Refugio) Palacios of Sunnyside; five brothers, Lupe (Olga) Rodriguez of Richland, Gilbert (Marina) Medina of Sunnyside, Enrique Rodriguez of Arizona, Juan (Gela) Rodriguez of Pasco, Chavelo (Lupe) Rodriguez of California; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Blanca Nellie Gutierrez.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
