PASCO - The Bickleton varsity boys basketball team traveled to Pasco yesterday (Thursday) and claimed their first win of the season against the Pasco sophomores, 47-35.
"It was just a hard fought game," revealed Bickleton coach Jerry Roberts. "I was real proud of the boys."
Roberts said the game was a physical match-up, played loose and fast. "The attack was from all different sides."
But the Bickleton boys (1-1) have been working on their weak points and their effort has paid off, said Roberts.
Bickleton sophomore Taylor Brown had 14 rebounds and scored 11 points during the game. Fellow sophomores Peter Clinton and Justin Roberts joined Brown in scoring double digits, adding 10 points each during the game.
Coach Roberts believed the first quarter really set a tone for the Bickleton boys. "We came out and outscored them in the first quarter," he said, revealing the Pirates were ahead 11-4 after the first quarter.
"We really needed this," Roberts added, but said that his team will continue to focus on improving their rebounds and executing offense for their next game against the Granger JV Monday, Dec. 13.
