Online site helpful in keeping alive local memories

In 1997, I moved away from the Sunnyside-Grandview area in order to pursue my ambitions in another state. Oftentimes, I would return to the Daily Sun News online to keep up with the news of a fondly remembered time I spent in the Valley. I would like to thank the editors and web personnel for allowing me to visit vicariously to the place I grew to love and cherish.

I'd like to give a special thanks to both VFW Post 3482 Sunnyside and VFW Post 6929 Grandview. I think the work these wonderful veterans and armed service members do should be congratulated and revered for their continued efforts in their community.

Sadly, I also found out through this forum that some of the admirable people I knew have passed away as well. My heartfelt condolences go out to their family and friends.

My 18-year-old granddaughter will be deployed to Afghanistan this month. I have a special place in my heart for the fine people who have served our country in times past and those of today. Thank you for protecting this country and keeping us safe.

God Bless America.
