;Nominations being accepted for Spirit of Sunnyside awards

The Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Spirit of Sunnyside awards banquet on Saturday, March 13, at the Johnson Concentrates building.

Doors open at 5 p.m.

This year's theme is Red, White and Blue. Some of the proceeds from the banquet will go towards Fourth of July fireworks in Sunnyside.

Tickets go on sale starting Monday, Feb. 15, at a cost of $30 per person or $200 for a table of eight people.

The chamber is accepting nominations for the awards from now through 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26.

Awards will be presented in the categories of pioneer (65 and older), health care person, educator, agri-business person, public official/employee, business person, youth, past pioneer, volunteer and new business (at least six months in business).

To be eligible, a nominee must be a resident of or work in Sunnyside, Outlook, Mabton and Bickleton.

Those making the nominations are asked to include a brief history of their nominee and why the person or business merits the award.
