The Yakima Valley Fair and Rodeo Board will hold a farm surplus auction next month to help raise funds for the annual event.
The auction will be held Saturday, March 20, at 10 a.m. behind the former Dick's Auto Body site at the corner of North First Street and Yakima Valley Highway in Sunnyside.
The fair and rodeo will benefit from a 10 percent commission on auctioned items valued at more than $1,000 and a 20 percent commission on equipment valued at more than $1,000.
Yvonne Graham is a member of the fair and rodeo board and is helping to head up next month's auction.
All kinds of equipment and vehicles are welcome to be auctioned off, Graham said, including tractors, animal trailers, cattle panels and irrigation-related items.
For vehicles, Graham says the people bringing them in for auction must hold clear title.
The fair board is accepting open consignment on auction items through Feb. 22 and will start advertising the equipment on March 5, Graham said.
She added that auction items can be brought in as late as the night before the auction, but that they won't be included in advertising for the event.
The fair and rodeo is a non-profit organization and Graham said some of the equipment and vehicle owners have already indicated they will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from their auctioned items.
