Christine Jenean Valenzuela, 56, of Sunnyside went to be in the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, surrounded by her loving family.

Christine was born Dec. 6, 1953 in Sunnyside, the daughter of William Allen and Patricia Naomi Richards.

She received her education and graduated from Sunnyside High School with the class of 1972. Christine later attended Yakima Valley Community College in Grandview earning a LPN degree.

On Feb. 4, 2002 she married Esiquio "Cisco" Valenzuela in Grandview.

She worked as a LPN for Hillcrest Nursing Home in Sunnyside.

Christine enjoyed gardening, ministering to the elderly, traveling and Bible studies.

She was a co-leader of a Wednesday prayer and Bible study at Sun Terrace for the last several years.

Christine was a member of the Sunnyside Free Methodist Church and a women's missionary group with other Free Methodist ladies in Grandview.

She is survived by her husband, Esiquio "Cisco" Valenzuela of Sunnyside; parents, William and Patricia Richards of Mattawa; two sons, Paul Lint of Sunnyside and James (Katrina) Lint of Yakima; one grandson, Joshua; and a new granddaughter who will be born in May and will be named Savannah Christine in honor of her grandma; two sisters, Rebecca (John) Schei and Joann (John) Morford; and three brothers, Joel (Cheryl) Richards, William Richards and Lyle Richards.

Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, from 1 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
