Doris Janet (Lehman) Swigart, 49, of Grandview passed away Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at home.

She was born Aug. 21, 1960 in Sunnyside to William Lehman and Doris (Hutchinson) Lehman.

"Dorie" attended schools in Sunnyside and spent most of her life in the Yakima Valley.

Dorie loved the outdoors, fishing, reading and her dog, Bear.

She was an excellent cook and worked for various restaurants in Sunnyside in the early 1980s. She had also enrolled at Yakima Valley Community College this last fall to continue her education.

She is survived by her mother, Doris VanHorn; stepfather, Jack VanHorn of Grandview; her children, Emily Swigart-Davis (Dan) of Zillah, Jenn Clingan-Ewing (Jeff) of Eugene, Dillon Clingan of Cheney and Daniel Clingan of Alderdale; grandchildren, Kendyl and Gavin Schloss and Ceydar Davis; her siblings, Vicky Roettger (Ron) of Prosser, Laurie Yanez (Ray) of Zillah, Jerry Lehman (Kim) of Benton City, Larry Lehman of Grandview and Dallas VanHorn (Lynn) of Yakima.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Lehman; and husband, David Swigart.

At Dorie's request there will be no formal funeral services. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.

Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside is in charge of arrangements.
