Alfredo Gonzalez, 80, a longtime Valley resident passed away on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at his home in Sunnyside.

Alfredo was born Dec. 15, 1929 in Edinburg, Texas, the son of Martin and Emeteria (Maltos) Gonzalez.

He worked as an irrigation specialist for Alexander Ranch which later became Hop Union.

Alfredo was married to Bonnie Everts of Grandview for 29 years.

He enjoyed spending time visiting with his sisters, Maria C. and Maria V. on a daily basis.

Alfredo loved listening to country music, dancing and going to restaurants.

He is survived by daughters, Belen Hutchisen (Dave) and their daughter, Hollie, all of Edmonds and Monica Abrams and her children, Jordan Abrams and Courtney Abrams, all of Yakima; a stepdaughter, Laurel Garcia and her children, Jason and Aime, all of Mabton; four brothers, Frank Gonzalez, Benito Gonzalez and Silverio Gonzalez, all of Grandview and Roberto Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, Texas; four sisters, Maria C. Gonzalez and Maria Trevino, both of Grandview, Maria Gonzalez of Prosser and Clara Salas of Yakima.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Emeteria Gonzalez; and his wife, Bonnie Everts.

Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, from 2 to 8 p.m., with an evening service at 5 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Grandview, with inurnment to be held at a later date at Grandview Cemetery.

Smith Funeral Home LTD and Crematory in Sunnyside is in charge of arrangements.
