Guerra's Coffee to host art exhibit

Guerra's Coffee Company at 1829 S. First St., Suite B, in Sunnyside will later this month host an art reception and exhibit.

The art exhibit featuring the work of Miguel "Wero" Cuevas titled "From Words to Birds," will appear at Guerra's from Jan. 23 to Feb. 19.

A public reception for Cuevas and his exhibit will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, from 5 to 11 p.m. During the reception, Cuevas will give a lecture and answer questions about his art. Following the lecture, the reception will feature live music.

A Toppenish native, Cuevas' inspiration for "From Words to Birds" comes from a fascination of warm colors, shapes, facial expressions of birds, serene scenery and life experiences.

Through the infusion of majestically caricatured birds, brilliant warm colors and crisp line work, Cuevas aims to evoke the emotions of his Latin heritage.

"Freedom is what a bird represents to me, so when I draw them I am free," Cuevas says.

Cuevas' work consists of color pencil, illustrative and sharp details, warm colors and an exclusive signature in every piece.

He has won several awards, and his artwork has been showcased in galleries around the Northwest.

Guerra's Coffee Company will be offering free coffee and hors d'oeurves during the Jan. 23 reception.
