KLICKITAT - It was just an odd game.
That's how Bickleton girls basketball coach Emily Barnhart sums up the Lady Pirates' 43-37 loss against league opponent Klickitat this past Friday night.
"I really don't think their defense is what stopped us," Barnhart said. "We had nice, open shots and just couldn't put it in the basket for some reason.
"There was just no energy. It was kind of an odd game for us."
Tied at 21-21 at the half, Bickleton finished the third quarter with a one point lead on Klickitat, who tallied 15 points in the final quarter versus the Lady Pirates' eight points.
"It was frustrating. The girls were frustrated," Barnhart said.
Bickleton's Katelynn Clinton was held to 10 points, while teammate Star Kibby was the game-high scorer with 15 points. Lady Pirate Morgan McBride scored six points, and teammates Aymie Osborn, Hailey Goodnight and Jamie Venema finished the night with two points apiece.
The Lady Pirates pulled it together for Saturday night's game against Lyle. Bickleton was victorious, 50-35.
"We ended up getting to play our younger girls for about a quarter and a half," Barnhart said.
Clinton scored a game-high 19 points and Osborn scored 11. Kibby scored nine points for Bickleton and Nakai Kibby tallied three points. Venema and McBride each scored four points.
