Man wounded in drive-by shooting on West Edison Road

Last night (Thursday) at approximately 11 p.m. Sunnyside police raced to the scene of a drive-by shooting in the 800 block of West Edison Road. An adult male was reportedly shot in the incident.

Sunnyside Police Department Public Information Officer Charlotte Hinderlider said a vehicle was seen traveling on NW Crescent Avenue before multiple shots were fired in the 800 block of West Edison Road.

When police arrived, with the assistance of the Yakima County Sheriff's Office, the victim was located and it was determined he suffered a gunshot wound to the groin area.

The victim, according to Hinderlider, was transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment.

She said he is in stable condition and it is believed he will recover from his injury.

Hinderlider said there were no suspects in the shooting incident as of press time this morning.
