Video surveillance camera catches Safeway store thief

GRANDVIEW - The Grandview Police Department has since yesterday (Tuesday) responded to a theft report, as well as a report of a burglary.

At about 2:30 p.m. employees at the Grandview Safeway store were reviewing surveillance footage and witnessed a subject walking out of the store with a cart full of groceries. The suspect, said the employees, committed the crime of stealing the groceries Sunday, May 23. The video surveillance, according to authorities, showed the individual did not pay for the groceries and the monetary loss is unknown.

A resident in the 600 block of North Fourth Street at approximately 10 p.m. last night notified police of a burglary there. The homeowner believed the burglary occurred some time last week. It is unknown what was stolen in the incident.

Grandview police also since yesterday responded to one vehicle accident in the 700 block of West Wine Country Road just before 7:30 p.m. No injuries were reported in the incident.
