Janet Bogert, 90, a longtime Sunnyside resident went to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, June 13, 2010.

She was born Oct. 28, 1919 in Perry, Iowa to William and Gertrude (Snetselaar) DeJoode.

On Nov. 14, 1945 she married Henry Bogert in Sunnyside. Following their marriage, they together made their home in Sunnyside.

Janet enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, quilting and embroidery. She was a very talented hostess; entertaining her family and friends brought great joy to her life. She cherished time spent with her family especially her grandchildren.

She was a member of the United Reformed Church.

Janet is survived by two daughters, Karen (Dave) Haraldson of Spokane and Sharon (Henry) Schinkelshoek of Prosser; five grandchildren, Briann (Nate) den Hoed, Sean Haraldson, Ashley (Ryan) Calhoun, Tyler (Jennie) Haraldson and Kacie (Joe) Schultz; and four great- grandchildren, Kira, Joanna, Ava Jane, Rebekah and baby Calhoun expected in August.

Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2010, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
