Lower Valley senior citizens invited to free picnic June 22

GRANDVIEW - Senior citizens in the Lower Yakima Valley are invited to a free picnic style barbecue and music event next Tuesday, June 22, called Senior Evening in the Park.

The evening in the park event will be at Grandview's County Fair Park event center from 5 to 7 p.m.

Featuring food, beverages and dancing to the music of The Foggy Bottom Band all at no cost, the Senior Evening in the Park is hosted by the Lower Valley Senior Network Group.

The group represents local citizens who work in the senior citizen industry.

The Lower Valley Senior Network Group includes local agencies serving seniors, such as Sun Terrace, Orchard House, Hillcrest Manor, Sheffield Manor, ResCare Home Care and Aging and Long Term Care.

The Senior Evening in the Park event is also sponsored in conjunction with Grandview Parks and Recreation, Wal-Mart and Grandview Market Place.

The group aims to put on an event for seniors once each quarter. Past activities have included a senior carnival and a chili feed.
