Bank robber sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison

Last Thursday, March 4, Gerardo Rios Orosco, 38, of Pasco plead guilty to first degree robbery in Yakima County Superior Court.

Rios Orosco was responsible for the Jan. 11 robbery of Sunnyside's Yakima Federal Savings and Loan, located on the corner of East Edison Avenue and South Eighth Street.

He did not use a weapon in the robbery and police have not disclosed the amount of money taken from the bank.

According to authorities with the Sunnyside Police Department, Rios Orosco was Thursday sentenced to 54 months in prison and is facing undisclosed federal probation violations.
