Winifred Roosendaal-Grove, 93, a long-time resident of the Yakima area, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Emerald Care Convalescent Center in Wapato.

She was born May 26, 1916, in Burdett, Alberta, Canada to Teunis and Paulina Bode.

On March 17, 1939, Winnie married Nick Roosendaal. The family moved to Sunnyside in 1956.

She married Elden Grove in 1983.

Winnie is survived by her husband, Elden; sons, Clarence of Grandview and Tom of Vancouver; daughters, Ruth Howard of Priest River, Idaho and Alyce Larson of Yakima; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Alice Bierlink of Sunnyside.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick; an infant daughter, Ruth; one son, Ronald; her parents; three sisters; three brothers; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Viewing will be held Friday, March 19, 2010, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 21, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held Monday, March 22, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Union Gospel Mission of Yakima or the Yakima branch of the Salvation Army.
