Sternwheeler offering cruises, sightseeing, culinary fare

TRI-CITIES - The Colum-bia Gorge Sternwheeler will cruise to the Tri-Cities for 10 days of special cruises, April 16-25.

The Sternwheeler will make a one-day cruise from its home in Cascade Locks to The Dalles, Oregon; the Sternwheeler will then continue and arrive in the Tri-Cities on the evening of April 16. While in Tri-Cities, the Sternwheeler will be docking at the Clover Island Inn. The Sternwheeler will offer lunch, brunch, dinner and sightseeing cruises during its stay. A special cruise to the Snake River Locks will be offered on Wednesday, April 21.

The Portland Spirit, operator of the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler, is no stranger to the Tri-Cities area. The Willamette Star, a sister ship to the Sternwheeler, was last in Tri-Cities in 2002, offering lunch, dinner and sightseeing.

The Sternwheeler is an authentic 499-passenger sternwheeler reminiscent of the ships that cruised the Columbia Gorge in the 1800’s. The Sternwheeler is a replica of the historic Bailey Gatzert, which operated on the Columbia from the 1890’s to the 1920’s. The Sternwheeler provides passengers with fresh northwest cuisine, prepared in its onboard galley.

Passenger boarding is 30 minutes prior to cruise times. All cruises board from the dock at the Inn at Clover Island. For cruise rates, times and availability contact the Portland Spirit at 800-224-3900 or online at
