Between my two jobs I have been burning the candle at both ends lately, so it was nice to enjoy some laughter at a ministry conference in Redmond this past weekend.
The schedule was busy and stuffed with helpful info, going from one workshop, one exhibit, to the next over a couple of days.
But one of the things I've learned at these conferences is to take some time to enjoy the experience there.
That's why I decided to end my conference weekend not with one more workshop or class, but with a comedy concert that was offered.
The comedian was Tim Hawkins and I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard, actual belly laughs.
And I wasn't alone, as it looked like most people decided to forego workshops in favor of humor to end their conference experience.
Hawkins is a Christian comedian and his stuff is just plain funny, whether or not you're a believer. It does help, though, to have experienced the pompous prayers and other asides from church life he pokes fun at in his routine.
I'm still trying to find the time to process what I learned in Redmond, as well as listen to CD copies of workshops for my continuing education as a pastor.
Every so often, though, I'll remember one of Tim's jokes, smile, and press ahead with the day.

Meanwhile, here's to making time for laughter and enjoying this journey called life.
