CASHMERE - The Bickleton boys track team scored 34 points, which gave them a second place finish out of nine teams this past Friday at a track meet hosted by Cashmere. The girls came in sixth place with 13 points.
Cashmere won the event on both the boys and girls sides. The Cashmere boys scored 146 points and the Cashmere girls scored 128.
Edgar Molina led the boys with a win in the in the shot put event. Molina heaved the 12-lb. ball 44-5. Molina was also second in the discus throw with a distance of 123-1. Wahluke's Clint Wiltse won the event with a throw of 124-3.
Bickleton's Junior Hernandez placed first in the 1600m with a time of 5:08.20. Hernandez was second in the 3200m event with a time of 11:11.21. Cashmere's Joe Mackey was first with a time of 11:04.80. Joshua Cummings and Daniel Clingan also scored points for Bickleton in the event. Cummings placed fifth and Clingan was sixth.
Nic Venema earned a fourth place finish for Bickleton in the pole vault. Teammate Peter Clinton was fifth. Cashmere's Joseph Green won the event when he cleared 12 feet.
Taylor Brown placed fourth for the Pirates in the high jump with a jump of 5-4. Cashmere's Kevin Kenoyer won the event when he cleared 5-10.
On the girls side, Jenna Mount placed ninth for Bickleton in the 200m event. She then placed third in the 400m with a time of 1:13.70. Cashmere's Monique Blanchard won the event with a time of 1:07.80.
Bickleton's Christina Wilson was fourth in the 3200m event.
Katelynn Clinton, Johanna Jensen, Jenna Mount and Haley Goodnight combined to place third in the 4x200 relay with a time of 2:07. Goodnight, Amanda McBride, Wilson and Jensen combined for a third place finish in the 4x400 relay.
Clinton also gave Bickleton a third place finish in the high jump. She cleared 4-6, but the event was won by Cashmere's Kaylee Carson when she cleared 4-10.
Bickleton will travel to Walla Walla on Friday, April 9, for a meet that begins at 3:30 p.m.
