50-year-old man shot, police fail to ID suspects

At about 5 p.m. yesterday (Monday) the Yakima County Sheriff's Office was alerted to a man at Sunnyside Community Hospital who was being treated for a gunshot wound.

The victim, Rick Yeary, 50, told deputies he was shot in the 2500 block of Sunnyside/Mabton Highway, but officers at the scene of the crime were unable to locate anything related to the shooting.

Yeary was listed as stable after having been shot in the upper left region of his back.

The incident is still under investigation and further details are not being released.

Deputies have also since yesterday received a report of gunfire in the 1500 block of Sunnyside/Mabton Highway near Sunnyside just prior to 11 p.m. The caller reported hearing 10 to 12 gunshots, followed by a speeding vehicle traveling in the direction of Mabton.

Since yesterday, deputies have also responded to two traffic accidents.
