October colder than usual

According to data received by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Weather Service in Pendleton, Ore., temperatures in Sunnyside averaged slightly colder than normal during the month of October.

Temperatures during last month averaged around 50.5 degrees, which was 1.8 degrees below normal.

High temperatures averaged at 63.3degrees, a full four degrees below normal. The highest temperature (81 degrees) was recorded on Oct. 2.

Low temperatures averaged at 37.7 degrees, only .5 degrees above normal. The lowest temperature (28 degrees) was recorded on Oct. 17 and there were four days when the temperature dropped below 32 degrees.

Precipitation totaled 0.98 inches during October, which was 0.45 inches above normal. The most rain was recorded on Oct. 29.

The outlook for November from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center calls for near normal temperatures and above normal precipitation.

Normal highs for Sunnyside fall from 54.7 degrees at the start of November to 46.9 degrees at the end of the month. Normal lows fall from 32.5 degrees to 29.6 degrees.

The 30 year normal precipitation is 0.95 inches.
