Jesse Castro Padilla, 87, of Outlook went to be with his loving Savior on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010.
Jesse was born Dec. 16, 1922 to Gregorio and Cecilia (Castro) Padilla.
He received his education in Texas.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Following his military service Jesse moved to Sunnyside, where he worked as a laborer contractor for many years. He also worked on the Hanford project and the construction of several dams.
Jesse then moved to Madras, Ore., where he owned a restaurant and taxi service.
He then returned to Sunnyside and opened up "La Fiesta" Mexican restaurant. Jesse also owned and operated a rental business in the Sunnyside area.
On Dec. 16, 1985 Jesse married Maria Esperanza (Sahagun) in Virginia City, Nev.
Jesse enjoyed talking about politics and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Esperanza Padilla of Outlook; several children and stepchildren including, Nellie Padilla of Outlook, Jess Padilla Jr. of Terrace Heights; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Mary Castro of Sunnyside, Salvador Padilla of Mabton, Carmen Gonzalez of Yakima, Angie Aguilar of Sunnyside, Frances Urrutia of Sunnyside and Ray Padilla of Wapato.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Manuel Padilla, Greg Padilla, Joe Padilla and Ignacio Padilla.
Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m., with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.
