Life Options seeks to extend service

At the end of this month, Saturday, April 30, Life Options will host its third annual Walk for Life.

The goal of the local organization, with offices in both Sunnyside and Grandview, is to raise enough funds to extend the hours of both locations.

This will enable Life Options to serve more clients.

Expanding the hours brings the need for more nurses, volunteer or paid, which will need to be trained to perform first tri-mester ultrasounds. Approximately $18,000 more than last year is needed to accomplish the goal.

The Walk for Life event begins at 10 a.m. at Grandview's Country Park on Wallace Way.

The event is a two-mile jaunt, and participants can walk, jog or run.

Money is collected following the event and sponsors for participants are encouraged to support community members involved.

Participants who raise $200 or more will be provided a t-shirt.

In addition, Life Options recently held its annual baby bottle fundraising campaign and more than $5,000 was raised during the event. Participating in the fundraiser were about 15 churches in the Lower Yakima Valley and their members.
