Yakima County Democrats to feature special guest at dinner

YAKIMA - Congressman Jay Inslee will be the featured speaker at the Yakima County Democrats' annual FDR dinner, Saturday, April 16, at the Yakima Convention Center.

"We are delighted that Representative Inslee can be with us during Congress's Easter break to provide a fresh update on the major national issues," said Yakima County Chair Mary M. Stephenson.

Inslee is a familiar figure in Central Washington, having begun his political career in 1988 when, as a young Selah lawyer, he was elected to the Washington State House for the 14th Legislative District.

From there his path led to Congress representing the 4th District, then to Bainbridge Island and election to Congress from the 1st District.

Inslee is a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee from which he has promoted his vision for a clean energy future, the New Apollo Energy Act.

At the state level, the westside congressman is known for his work to expand Washington state's high-tech economy and to protect national forests.

The FDR dinner is the major spring fundraiser for the Yakima County Democrats. It will begin at 6 p.m. with a social hour, followed by a buffet dinner at 6:45 p.m., leading to Congressman Inslee's address at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $50 per person or $400 for a table of eight. More information is available at 509-452-7197 or the party's website: www.yakimademocrats.com.

Funds solicited in connection with this event are by the Yakima County Democrats and not by Congressman Inslee.
