Esther L. Dellinger, 84, beloved wife, mother and grandmother and a lifetime valley resident, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Orchard House in Grandview. Esther was born March 13, 1927 in Outlook, the daughter of Carl and Iva (Roath) Hobson.
She received her education in Outlook and Sunnyside.
On June 11, 1947 Esther married Charles William Dellinger in Sunnyside.
Esther worked for Walter's Drug Store and Slettens Department Store as a retail clerk for many years and retired in 1989.
Esther was a charter and active member of the Assembly of God Church.
She and Charles loved to travel and enjoyed many trips all around the world and short trips to Arizona to visit her friends and sister-in-law. Camping and picking huckleberries were also an enjoyment to Esther, along with embroidering and ceramics.
Esther cherished time spent with her great-granddaughters and loved shopping for them and with them.
Esther is survived by her husband, Charles Dellinger; one daughter, Jeannie (Jim) Roy; one grandson, Shawn Roy, all of Sunnyside; three great-granddaughters, Lyndsey Roy, Hannah Roy and Jayden Roy, all of Grandview.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Rev. Clifford Hobson.
Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2011, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 21, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Neighborhood Assembly of God in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
