Missing Sunnyside child found safe

Yesterday (Wednesday) just after 5 p.m. staff at Sunnyside's Washington Elementary School alerted police to a missing child. A 9-year-old student did not arrive home on the bus after leaving the school. Fortunately, the youngster was found after she walked home.

Also reported yesterday were four thefts. A 1997 Honda was reported stolen from the 1400 block of Saul Road, tools were reported stolen from a business in the 1500 block of South Fourth Street, money was reported stolen by a resident in the 300 block of South 11th Street and license plates were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 200 block of North First Street.

Sunnyside police have also since yesterday responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call, three automatic alarms, two animal problems, two assaults, a report of a disorderly individual, a report of fraudulent activity, two calls regarding intoxicated individuals, three juvenile problems, a report of lost property, four traffic calls, a parking problem and a report of vandalism. Officers have also provided an agency assist, two citizen assists, served an arrest warrant and fielded an informational call.
