Lucas shoots fourth lowest round Monday ;at CWAC match

TOPPENISH - Grandview's Kayla Lucas turned in the fourth lowest individual round at a CWAC girls golf match staged at Toppenish's Mt. Adams Country Club this past Monday.

Four schools competed, although only Selah and East Valley had complete four-member squads. Both, Grandview and the host Toppenish Wildcats officially ended the match with incomplete team scores.

Lucas fired a 111 in the 18-hole match. She recorded four bogeys - one on the front side and three after the clubhouse turn. Her back nine bogeys came on the par-5, 12th hole; the par-4, 14th; and the par-3 finishing hole. She opened with a 56 on the front nine, carding a 55 on the closing nine holes.

Also competing for the Lady Greyhounds were Neira Jimenez and Natasha Lara. Jimenez posted a 132 (68-64). Lara absorbed a 154 (81-73).

Monday's medalist was Katie Gibbs of Selah. She shot an even-100 on front and back nine scores of 50-50. Selah, too, got rounds of 107 and 109 from Allyson Ingraham and Alexa Palomarez, respectively.

East Valley's best round was claimed by Taylor Jones, who carded a 101 (51-50).

Toppenish's lone golfer, Tanta Lyon, tallied a 133 (64-69).
