Disappointing results for Grandview High boys

TOPPENISH - The Grandview boys and girls tennis teams walked away with a pair of losses yesterday (Wednesday) after they squared off against Toppenish.

Grandview's Ryan Rodriguez and Ezequiel Zamora, the team's No. 1 and No. 2 singles players, gave the Greyhounds their only wins for the day.

Rodriguez defeated Toppenish's Emmanuel Rodriguez 6-1, 6-2 for the No. 1 boys singles win. Zamora beat Martin Cantu 6-0, 6-0 for his No. 2 singles win.

Going into yesterday's match, the GHS boys squad had won five of its past six matches.

The No. 1 boys doubles match went to CJ Stauffer and Gavin Reynolds of Toppenish. They defeated Grandview's Angel Lopez and Stevan Ramirez 6-3, 6-4.

The No. 2 boys doubles match between Toppenish's Nik Huylar and Ricardo Palmer and Grandview's Ivan Campazano and Abel Reyes was pushed to three sets. Huylar and Palmer won the match 7-6 (8-6), 1-6, 6-4.

The No. 3 boys doubles match went to Enedeo Garza and Reymund Enciso, who defeated Grandview's Marcus Morales and Chris Galvan 6-0, 6-4.

The Grandview girls team was swept by the Toppenish girls.

Leslie Avalos of Toppenish defeated Grandview's Jessica Hernandez 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 1 girls singles match.

The No. 2 girls singles victory was claimed by Toppenish's Yessica Regis. Regis faced off against Ana Herrera and won with a 6-4, 6-3 score.

The No. 1 girls doubles match put Grandview's Mayra Escareno and CaSandra Hudon against Toppenish's Bailey Huylar and Vania Zuno. Huylar and Zuno won 6-2, 6-3.

Andrea Padilla and Araceli Aguilera claimed victory over Grandview's Sadie Wyatt and Victoria Chambers in the No. 2 girls doubles match, 6-4, 6-2.

Finally, Grandview's Gabby Avalos and Karissa Carpenter fell to Toppensh's Sussana Cruz and Beatriz Graciano, 6-3, 6-2, in the No. 3 girls doubles match.
