I appreciate those who have inquired about my column last week. I'm still praying for God's leading and direction. Your prayers would be appreciated.
This week, though, I want to shift gears and give a shout out to our summer news intern at the Daily Sun News, Claire Schilperoort.
This week she finished up her summer stint with us and is headed back to college.
Each week she volunteered her time in the newsroom to cover a wide range of assignments.
She filled each assignment with a smile and a willingness to do whatever work was needed. Even if it meant traipsing out to a dairy to take pictures or conducting solo interviews for the first time.
Many of her photographs filled the Our Valley pages each Thursday. That was a nice break for us in the newsroom as we've been busy on plenty of other assignments.
I don't know what Claire's plans are after college, but she definitely has a knack for writing and it should serve her well in whatever future profession she chooses.
Her work ethic and professional attitude certainly gives a person hope for future generations...and a reminder that it's a relatively small number of young people who cause a large proportion of the bad news that make headlines.
Thanks Claire for helping out this summer and giving us some flexibility in the newsroom.
Best wishes as you finish up college and on your future transition from intern to a full-fledged professional at the business lucky enough to hire you after college.
