Getting ready for mom's visit has taught us some good lessons

These are exciting days as we wait for my mom's visit from Ohio.

The other day we cleaned out the garage and unloaded a lot of unneeded stuff and even made a run to the garbage disposal transfer station out near Outlook.

In the midst of sprucing up the house for my mom's visit, we also stumbled on some correspondence from more than 20 years ago when Joni and I were courting.

We also found some old family photographs.

The uncovered memorabilia caused us to slow down our pace of work and think about how we got where we are...and the blessings we've experienced along the way.

It reminded me the process of reflection requires time to appreciate past blessings, as well as peaks and valleys that test and strengthen our faith.

I'm thankful, excited that mom is coming to visit us...it's been a long time since we've seen her.

But I'm also thankful for the past few weeks of preparing for her visit and the lessons they've taught us along the way.
