Community Advisory Council seeks input from Sunnyside residents

During the past year, a committee has been meeting monthly at the Sunnyside Community Center.

The Community Advisory Council is a "stewardship" council of Sunnyside's Promise, made up of local citizens who would like to have a voice in the direction the community would like to take as it develops educational enhancement programs, pro-social activities, youth intervention strategies and more.

These elements are specific to, but not limited to local youth.

As an example, the committee needs citizens to voice concerns, letting the committee know what adult activities they would like to see at the community center.

Unfortunately, in many cases it takes a village to raise a child and in today's world this is even more apparent, says Sunnyside's Promise Lisa Fairbairn.

Community members are invited to take this as an invitation to help be a part of change in Sunnyside. The committee needs any of the following from community members: ideas, suggestions, support and volunteerism.

Any resident of Sunnyside can become a part of the Community Advisory Council. All meetings are open to the public.

The meetings are held on the third Monday of every month from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Sunnyside Community Center.

The next Community Advisory Council meeting will be held next Monday, Aug. 15.
