GRANDVIEW - Saturday, Aug. 27, the Lower Valley Relay For Life Committee will hold a luminaria ceremony at the Grandview High School Stadium.
The ceremony is typically held the evening of the Lower Valley Relay For Life in May, but this year's event was cancelled due to severe thunder and lightning storms.
The entire community is welcome to join Relay supporters at 7 p.m. on Aug. 27 to remember loved ones lost to cancer and honor those survivors who are still with us.
Those who participate are invited to light up the night during the American Cancer Society Lower Valley Relay For Life luminaria ceremony, while remembering a loved one diagnosed with cancer. You can purchase a luminaria in honor of someone dear to you who has passed away from cancer or is still bravely fighting the disease.
Hundreds of luminaria will be placed around the track at dusk to guide the participants as they make their way through Leenhouts Stadium. For only $10, you can remember a family member, friend, co-worker or neighbor with this moving and uplifting tribute. Luminaria bags can be purchased by emailing Jaclyn Kendall at firstname.lastname@example.org, or can be purchased between 7 and 8 p.m. at the ceremony.
