In the retail world the Christmas season starts the day after Thanksgiving, though you can sometimes see the Yule tides start as early as the day after Halloween.
For school children, the Christmas season arrives in earnest with the first day of winter break.
For me the Christmas season starts each year whenever my Mom's Christmas candy arrives from Ohio.
Usually it's here a good week or so before Christmas, and then the struggle is for Joni and I to make it last through Christmas Day.
Chocolate, peanut butter, white chocolate - it's all fudge and it's all good. It's also hard to eat just one piece at a time.
Throughout my adult life, except for the five years Joni and I lived overseas, Mom's Christmas candy has been a constant during the holidays.
She sends it out to all three of her kids and I feel blessed to have a Mom who still enjoys baking and sending a generous batch of Christmas candy every year.
I don't know when the Christmas season arrives for you and yours. My hope is that the spirit of goodwill at this time of year finds you at Christmas and throughout 2012.
