BICKLETON - The Mabton JV girls basketball team got a run for its money in the Bickleton gym last night, as the Lady Pirates varsity handed the Lady Vikes a 64-28 defeat.
The Lady Pirate victory was largely due to a personal record of 44 points scored by Katelynn Clinton.
Clinton's 44 points is also a new school record.
Clinton also had 11 steals and pulled down 18 balls from the glass.
The Mabton JV was held to seven points in the opening quarter, and Bickleton scored 15. The Lady Pirates maintained the lead, outscoring the Lady Vikes 14-10 in the second quarter.
Bickleton continued to wear down the Mabton JV and outscored the visitors 35-11 in the closing half of the game.
Lady Pirate Jamie Venema added to Clinton's tally with eight points.
The leading scorer for the Lady Vikes was Danyshia Salinas with nine points.
"(Bickleton's) Aymie Osborne had her best rebounding game so far, as well," said Bickleton Coach Emily Barnhart, noting Osborne had 12 boards.
Teammate Jenna Mount contributed seven assists and defended well with eight steals.
Bickleton (4-3, 10-5) will travel to Toppenish this coming Friday and face off against Yakama Tribal.
