A Sunnyside teenager yesterday morning (Sunday) at about 3 a.m. was stabbed by her boyfriend when she told him she wanted to end the relationship. Her mother called the Sunnyside police to report the incident. She transported the girl to Sunnyside Community Hospital for treatment.
Police investigating the incident are actively looking for the suspect, who is wanted on a requested charge of first degree assault.
The victim's injury was non-life threatening. She was stabbed in the arm by her assailant.
Also yesterday, a 12-year-old girl stole her parents' vehicle. Her father followed her and reported the theft. The youngster crashed the vehicle, damaging three other vehicles. Police responded to the call from her father and apprehended the girl after she fled the scene of the accident. She was apprehended and transferred to the Yakima County Juvenile Detention Center on requested charges for theft of a motor vehicle and hit and run unattended.
This past Saturday a resident in the 100 block of Parkland Drive reported hearing gunshots just before midnight. Further details about the call were not available as of press time.
Also, since last Friday Sunnyside police have responded to five automatic alarm calls, two reports of controlled substance problems, four domestic violence calls, 10 suspicious activity calls, two non-injury vehicle accidents and 16 traffic calls. Officers provided five agency assists, served four arrest warrants and served a court order.
