Dixie Lynn Heitschmidt, 63, of Richland passed away on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at Kadlec Regional Medical Center. She was born March 7, 1947 in Mabton to Don and Louise (Osborne) Boast.
Dixie grew up on a farm near Mabton with 11 brothers and sisters.
She received her education in Mabton and graduated with the Mabton High School class of 1965.
On June 17, 1968 she married Dan Heitschmidt at Grace Brethern Church in Mabton.
Dixie worked as a CNA for local nursing homes and also worked at Home Healthcare for several years.
She enjoyed bowling, pinochle, crocheting, caring for others and cherished time spent with her family.
She was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grandview.
She is survived by four sons, Darren (Tami) Heitschmidt of Moses Lake, Todd Heitschmidt of Mabton, Karl Heitschmidt currently serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Germantown and Corey (Janice) Heitschmidt of Pasco; four granddaughters, Kellie Heitschmidt, Madison Heitschmidt, Karlee Heitschmidt and Geordan Heitschmidt all of Grandview; and one grandson, Jude Heitschmidt of Pasco; six sisters, Sharon (Ron) Pepper, Twyla (Terry) Ostrander, Brenda (George) Dunbar, Zaida Boast, Merrily (Wray) Bjerkestrand and Gayla Boast; and four brothers, Larry Boast, Randy (Cindy) Boast, Mike (Debby) Boast and Brian (Becky) Boast.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Louise Boast; and one brother, Jerry Boast.
Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, from 3 to 7 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Mabton Cemetery.
