Ledgerwood named Coach of the Year, Carrasco is MVP

MABTON - Mabton boys basketball Coach Brock Ledgerwood was named the SCAC East Coach of the Year for the 2010-11 season.

He was joined by his senior player, Kristian Carrasco, who was named the league's most valuable player.

All told, all five Mabton starters were named to the SCAC All League team.

Both Carrasco and Jesus Huecias were named to the first team. Josh Sanchez and Carmen Johnson were named to the second team. Josh Strickland was named to the third team.

Ledgerwood noted that Carrasco was an unanimous choice for MVP.

"Having all five starters represented is great," Ledgerwood said.

Mabton is 19-4 on the season and will play next Friday in Spokane and will advance to the eight-team State tournament with a win.
