Police receive two shots fired calls

Since last Friday the Sunnyside Police Department has received two reports of shots fired.

Yesterday morning (Sunday) just after midnight two callers reported up to five shots fired in the area of North Avenue behind El Valle Restaurant. One caller told police a bullet nearly struck her. Further details were not available as of press time.

About two hours later a resident in the 300 block of North 10th Street reported hearing approximately 10 gunshots in the area. Officers investigating the call were unable to locate evidence of gunfire.

Also reported to police since last Friday was a shoplifter at Safeway and a theft of items from a vehicle in the 500 block of Fairview Avenue.

Sunnyside police have also responded to five automatic alarms, two assaults, four domestic violence calls, two juvenile problems, six suspicious activity calls and 15 traffic calls. Officers have served three arrest warrants and provided six agency assists.
