Man found dead in Sunnyside this morning

Early this morning Sunnyside police officers responded to a report of a suspicious person on property in the 500 block of West South Hill Road. The call was received just after 4 a.m. and police found a man on the ground near a vehicle. He was discovered to be suffering from what officers believed was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Also since last Thursday, Sunnyside police have received eight theft reports and a burglary call. Four of the thefts were vehicles. Two of the vehicles were Hondas.

The other thefts involved a shoplifter and items stolen from vehicles, including a gun stolen from a vehicle in the 300 block of South 13th Street last Friday.

Items stolen in a burglary in the 1400 block of West Madison Avenue last Friday were not detailed.

Also since last Thursday, police have responded to eight automatic alarms, an animal problem, six domestic violence calls, 19 suspicious activity calls and 11 traffic calls, including one non-injury accident. Officers provided four agency assists and served two arrest warrants, as well as recovered three stolen vehicles.
